MARCH IS READING MONTH

Monday, March 9th

Lori is passionate about literacy and improving academic outcomes for Michigan's children.  She celebrated March is Reading Month by reading at Lincoln Elementary and Carlson Elementary this year.  The opportunity to spend time in classrooms and talking with teachers gives her insights to the challenges in education.

January 23rd

Introduced Liam's Law

Representative Stone worked with Jessica Gomez from Changing Spaces Michigan to increase accessibility to public restroom with fully automated, height adjustable, universal changing tables.  Changing spaces with the designated equipment provide safe, hygienic space where people can meet their basic needs or be changed by a care giver.  This legislation would expand inclusion in Michigan.

December 14th 

First Tech Robotics State Championship

Lori spoke during the opening ceremonies at Macomb Community College. In her first term, she has worked on talent and workforce development through opportunities in STEM and Career and Technical Education.  She also participated in Manufacturing Day.

December 20th 2019 - present

I-696 Ooze Contamination

As State Representative, Lori is actively engaged in the investigation and mitigation of the contamination from Electro Plating Services.  She worked with community environmental activists to educate the community.  $600,000 was allocated by the legislature for the clean up of the property.  In addition, Lori cosponsored polluter pay legislation to return financial responsibility to business owners.

November 2019

Awarded Friend of Social Workers

Lori recognized by Michigan's Association of School Social Workers a Friend of Social Workers for her advocacy on the essential role education support staff plays in student success.

Addressing Opioid Use Disorder

Addressing Opioid Use Disorder

Lori has worked on her priority to eliminate the opioid epidemic in our community.  During her first term Representative Stone hosted an opioid townhall with experts and community organizations.  Introduced a resolution in recognition of Red Ribbon Week.  Joined the Warren Center Line Prevention Coalition.  Volunteered for a drug take back event as well as alcohol abuse prevention event at Lincoln High School.  Legislatively Lori is working on increasing access to drug use treatment, mental health providers, and diversion court

September-October 2019

On the Picket Line with Local UAW Members

Lori supported local UAW members during the 40 day strike.  Walking the picket line, stocking the strike pantry, and speaking up for fair treatment are just some of the efforts to let hardworking union members know they are valued.  As a member of the Legislative Labor Caucus, Representative Stone collaborates on union positive legislation.  Her experiences as a member of the Michigan Education Association has motivated her work.

Fire Ops 101

Fire Ops 101 is an experience that gives legislators a taste of first responders responsibilities and tasks.  Lori gained a deeper for the demands and risks they face everyday.

#Red for Ed Rally

Lori's experience teaching drives her legislative work. She serves on the Education Committee and is an originating member of the Education Caucus.  As state representative, Lori speaks up for students, educators, and schools.
